SPOKANE, Wash. -- The head-on collision on U.S. 195 was cleared around 11:30 Tuesday morning but traffic is still being detoured to Cheney-Spokane to Qualchan Road until further notice.
A woman driving the wrong way in the southbound lane of U.S. 195 hit an oncoming car head-on at 8:00 Tuesday morning according to the Washington State Patrol.
Officials said Jennifer Schmidt, 30, in critical condition and the male driver she hit, Sean Moss, 32, is in serious condition.
Authorities had been receiving calls throughout the morning about a car driving the wrong way in the southbound lane. Drivers in the northbound lane had been flashing their lights and honking their horns to warn oncoming drivers of the vehicle driving the wrong way in the southbound lane according to authorities.
Two MedStar helicopters were called to the scene.
Washington State Patrol said that charges are still pending.
