COEUR D'ALENE -- A Coeur d'Alene developer is the latest victim of a hate crime in North idaho, where incidents are becoming more frequent.
Police called Haithem Joudeh Friday morning to inform him that his truck, left overnight in a Downtown Coeur d'Alene parking lot, was vandalized with spray-painted swastikas and racial slurs.
"This is my home, this is where I belong," says Joudeh. "They made me feel like I don't belong in this place."
This is the second time this year Joudeh's vehicle has been vandalized. And according to the Kootenai County Human Rights Task Force, this is the seventh hate crime reported in North Idaho in just the last few months.
Joudeh filed a $25 million lawsuit against Kootenai County Commissioners this year, claiming they rejected his condo and storage unit project because he is Islamic.
Joudeh says he was born in Idaho, and went to the University of Idaho, but this incident is making him seriously consider going elsewhere.
"They make me fear for my life and my family," says Joudeh. "What's next, they're going to come to my house?"
