POST FALLS-- People living on Harbor Island in Post Falls are ready to protect their homes.
The water surrounding Harbor Island is almost at flood stage, and neighbors geared up to protect their properties Thursday.
Kevin George has lived on the island for the past 10 years. His property sits right along the water's edge. "What we're doing now is laying plastic against the seawalls, and then the water will come in and put pressure against the plastic, and it will seal them, and if it comes up to the seawalls, then we'll have to sandbag above the seawalls."
It's been about four years since those living here had to prepare for major flooding.
The National Weather Service predicted that Lake Coeur d'Alene will hit flood stage Friday afternoon.
Wednesday night, representatives with the Kootenai County Office of Emergency Management and the Army Corp of Engineers met with neighbors to provide assistance. Piles of sand have been trucked in.
