SPOKANE, Wash. -- Police responded to a house in North Spokane early Friday morning after reports of a man firing off a gun inside a home.
Neighbors near 'A' Street and West Heroy called 911 after the sound of an argument and gunshots woke them up in the middle of the night. A woman ran outside the house according to authorities, but the man reportedly firing shots stayed inside.
The officers who responded reported hearing shots still being fired from inside the home.
"Anytime there is a firearm involved, that's going to raise our concern,” said Spokane Police Lt. Dean Sprague. “Anytime we believe shots are being fired, that's going to put it through the roof.”
Officers began securing the neighborhood, telling residents to stay inside during the standoff.
Police said they managed to calm the man down and he was eventually detained safely. Authorities also said there was a possibility charges could be filed in the incident.
There were no injuries reported.
