SPOKANE-- An apartment maintenance worker is credited for chasing down an assault, murder suspect last Thursday.

Joshua Gahl’s bravery led police right to Avondre Graham.

KREM spoke with Gahl's who had no idea how important Graham was to the McGill murder investigation.

Last Thursday, Gahl heard a woman screaming on the Centennial Trail after Graham allegedly attacked her.

Gahl said the woman pointed to the suspect jogging away. Gahl called 911 while he ran after the suspect across railroad tracks and down to the shore of the Spokane River.

The suspect, identified as Graham, eventually swam to the other side, where arriving officers arrested him and Thursday named him the murder suspect in the McGill investigation

Joshua said he was excited to hear Spokane Police have now officially linked Avondre Graham to the murder of Sharlotte McGill.
