SPOKANE -- Gonzaga University's interim president has decided to ban the production "The Vagina Monologues" from campus.
An email sent to KREM 2 News and Gonzaga faculty members contained a letter from Gonzaga Interim President Dr. Thayne McCulloh, who wrote, "I cannot allow 'The Vagina Monologues' to take place on campus. Aware as I am of the work that has already gone into preparing for this event, I encourage you to consider holding the event at an off-campus venue."
"The Vagina Monologues" was also banned from campus in 2002 by then President Fr. Robert Spitzer and held at an off-campus location.
Dr. McCulloh went on to write that he encourages discussions to help prevent sexual violence against women, and believes the topic could be explored in other ways.
