SPOKANE-- Gonzaga students stood in line for hours for tickets to tonight’s men’s exhibition basketball game and they weren't disappointed.
The Kennel was jumping Monday night as the younger looking Zags went on to beat the University of Alberta 94 to 53.
The fans say they were excited to see the team hit the floor this season. Fans say it will take some time for this year's team to become the kind of team that can make it to the Sweet Sixteen again, but they are impressed with what they saw Monday night.
Nine hours before tipoff, Allison White and her friends laid down a blanket and anchored their place in line outside the athletic center. White says she and her friends did the same thing a lot last year.
White and Laura Bulkley are Sophomores. They said as Freshmen they slept out in a tent when it was freezing in the snow and ice, but said it was worth it when they got inside. Year after year, GU students wait on their team, rain or snow, sun or cold, for what they call the ultimate Kennel experience; which is front row, center court seats.
Some of the students waiting in line said it was weird to go to Kraziness in the Kennel and not recognize any of the players from last year’s team. The Zags graduated 4 of their top 5 scorers from a year ago.
