SPOKANE, Wash. -- Multiple search warrants were executed and dozens of people were arrested across Spokane County Thursday morning by a combined gang-enforcement team.
Before noon, the Spokane Violent Crime and Gang Enforcement Team (S.V.C.G.E.T.) announced 26 people had been arrested as a result of the joint, multi-state operation. Officials later increased that figure to 34 arrests. The final number of arrests was announced around 2:30.
The numbers were fluctuating because multiple agencies were involved in the arrests.
Authorities said ten more people were wanted.
Law enforcement said the efforts disrupted a "large-scale criminal enterprise." Warrants were served in Washington, Idaho and Nevada. One of them was next door to Ray Biddle’s home on Spokane’s lower South Hill.
“I saw a bunch of police vehicles, I opened my door and was told to get back inside,” said Biddle.
Agents were combing through Biddle’s neighbor’s house for about four hours. The wife of the man arrested at that home said authorities confiscated multiple cell phones. She was also told her husband was going to see a judge.
Biddle said he was shocked to see his neighbor in cuffs. He never suspected criminal activity from his neighbors.
Authorities said the raids are tied to distributing PCP and other drugs.
