MILTON, Pa. (AP) -- Police in central Pennsylvania say a woman accused of kidnapping her own sons from Washington state has been arrested after 11 years as a fugitive.

An arrest warrant was issued in Spokane, Wash., in 1998 for Jill Diane Haugen. The 48-year-old woman was arrested Tuesday at her home in Milton, Pa., where she was going by the name Ann Thompson.

Milton Police Officer Todd Ulrich says he reached the children's father on the phone Tuesday. Ulrich says William Connington, of Spokane, Wash., was "absolutely surprised" and had thought he'd never see his sons again. Connington's 17-year-old son, Anthony, and 15-year-old son, Jamey, are in foster care for now.

Haugen said Tuesday that she is a victim of domestic violence and her sons are victims of sexual abuse. Police say there's no merit to her claims.

There is always a story and unfortunately she maybe did what alot of parents do when their children are abused. I hope they find out the truth. The boys were young but if their 'father' did molest them, they'll remember it. Maybe he did, maybe he didn't. But if he did he needs to be the one arrested...SICK PIG!

i have known the boys father for a long time he would never do anything like that. he is a very nice and respected member of my family and for her to say something like that about him makes me sad that she would go that far to cover what she did wrong.

I know nothing about either the mom or dad, but it seems like a pretty extreme measure to disappear with two young boys on your own and start a completely new life under a new name. If there was no abuse, what on earth could possibly motivate that kind of extreme action? Obviously, her intent was to raise her boys in peace, without influence or contact with the dad. Since the boys are older teenagers, she just about accomplished her goal. I'd bet she'd say it is worth going to jail for if what she alleges about abuse is true. Come on, people, stories about so-called nice men or women who turn out to be sickos are in the news frequently. I say the evidence points to the mother doing what it took to get her boys to safety, but again, I don't know either personally and am only going by the facts presented in the news report. The case just recently where the Mead father killed his wife and injured his own son because he found out she wanted to divorce him comes to mind...

why is it that the mothers always get caught?.....fathers steal the children and they get away with it....when Barbara Kurth had her idiot husband run off with her two dtrs when they were tiny little girls, she did everything she could to no avail...finally, after some miracle, they were discovered, all grown up, and indoctrinated against her.....you know what the dad got?...a hefty fine and community service....this after 20 yrs of keeping the girls away from their own mother...who he told btw that she had "died"... there was the man who stole his two sons off to Germany....leaving one son behind.....he actually had come back to Spokane without the boys and the court wouldn't even hold him..... different justice ....

Each case is different and you have no idea what led to her departure. If the boys do or don't end up with their dad then that should give you a good idea who's to blame. Now all you man haters join hands and belt out your favorite Melissa Etheridge song.

first off no one knows this man so don’t judge second you should look at this mothers will do what ever it take to keep their kids. third this man has also 2 other kids he raised after this happened along with s right he’s never me that i have know william connington for over 10 years since i was 13 great man and great father figure has been their for me. and has never laid a hand on one person. its amazing the stuff a person a person would say to try and get the blame shifted for the bad stuff they do. like strip a man the rights to see or let alone raise his kids that’s wrong. the truth about why she did what she did was because of the day she lost full custody of those boys. iv seen friends go throw some bad battles to get their kids the system was not easy back then and it isn’t easy now so know that if their was stuff like that happening why would a guy like me be around a guy that’s nothing more then a huge teddy bear.

I don't know either parent but I can't see any GOOD reason for any mother to take her children away from their father without COURT INVOLVEMENT. IF this father had done something wrong, would the court not have sided with the mother??? I have a web site that we following Missing & Murdered Cases. We will be watching this case to see what happens. It's a MIRACLE that these boys were found ALIVE. Be "Grateful!" that she didn't harm them any more than she did mentally & emotionally.
