SPIRIT LAKE, Idaho-- Family and friends are expressing their sadness after a teenager died from drowning in Spirit Lake.
The skate park there is usually a popular hangout for kids in town, but this Friday. Kids like J.J. Herbst spent the day remembering their friend A.J. Marksworth.
“I can’t believe what happened. I just hope he’s in a good place right now, and I get to se him again soon,” Herbst said.
J.J. and A.J. grew up together, spending a lot of time at that park.
“I feel like I can just sit down and cry all day. When I wake up and know I can’t see my friend anymore, it just makes me sick.”
This death has shocked many people in A.J.’s town. Friends say the tragedy was devastating, and one of the gravest realities might be the emptiness of one of their most frequented hangouts. One of the skate park’s most familiar faces will no longer be there.
There is a memorial account set up for A.J.’s family through the Inland Northwest Bank in Spirit Lake. It will help pay for medical bills.
