SPOKANE, Wash.—A pair of friends was playing in their 25th Hoopfest together on Sunday.

The friends from Quincy shared a love of Hoopfest. There was a unique bond between Kevin Konen and his friend Eddie Ambriz. The pair had played in every Hoopfest.

"Ever since the first one, I wanted to get involved. And each year we just keep coming back,” said Konen.

Ambriz and Konen were at Hoopfest when there were just a couple hundred teams. The players watched the tournament blossom into the largest 3-on-3 tournament on Earth.

"Never. Never thought it would get this big. Wasn't sure if it was going to last either,” said Konen.

The pair said they would play at another 25 Hoopfests if their bodies allowed them to.

"We've been together for 40 years. We've been playing together and here a couple of us 25 years together. And it's all been fun,” said Konen.
