SPIRIT LAKE, Idaho-- Mourners gathered in North Idaho Wednesday night to grieve the loss of a Spirit Lake teenager.

Hikers found the 18-year-old Luke Anana Kuewa’s body Sunday, and more than 100 people gathered around his mother and father during the vigil.

Friends and family sang “Amazing Grace” and lit candles as they shared memories about the teenager.

Attendees say they were there to support the family, but some of them also question how Anana Kuewa died.

“He was funny and sweet, and he’ll be missed by everybody who ever talked to him. I’m not sure what happened down here, and I’m not going to speculate about it. Whatever it was, it was a tragedy,” Francis Liberty Smith, a friend, said.

“There have been names put out there, but I definitely don’t think this is an accident,” Cheyenne Gibson, a friend, said.

Luke’s sister said some witnesses told her he committed suicide after doing drugs, but others believe he was attacked.

Investigators have not released any new information about the case.
