SPOKANE, Wash. -- Thousands of Bloomsday bracelets were passed out for free so Spokane runners can show their support for the Boston bombing victims. The bracelets read “Bloomsday Stands With Boston.”
Bloomsday organizers handed out more than 50,000 lilac colored bracelets to runners during the Marmot March, Junior Bloomsday and Bloomsday.
Organizers purchased the bracelets with the help of Washington Trust Bank.
“We were looking for a way to demonstrate our unity with Boston and the Boston Marathon and to show our sympathy for those who died or were injured,” said Steven Jones, President of the Lilac Bloomsday Association.
