MEDICAL LAKE, Wash.—The California felon with the mug shot that is sweeping the internet grew up in Eastern Washington. Jeremy Meeks, 30, attended school in the Medical Lake School District. The six-time-felon also has a criminal record in Washington.

Meeks was arrested Wednesday on felony weapons charges during a sweep in the Weston Ranch area of Stockton, Calif.  He was one of four men arrested in a multiagency operation after a recent increase in shootings and robberies.

However it was his mug shot, not his criminal record, creating a buzz online. He is also arguably the most popular convict to grace the Stockton Police Department Facebook page and possible on the internet as a whole.

"Omg come to mama," Nicole Seba Lorena Elena commented.

"Holy [heck] i would arrest him too..hottest bad boy I've seen," Ellie Abbey wrote.

"He can kidnap me anyday... Hold me against my will lol," Jessica Gutierrez commented.

Meeks heard about the mug shot buzz from his wife. The picture had 10,914 likes and 2,400 comments from Wednesday night to Thursday morning, many from women claiming to admire his looks.

On, the story has had 11,000 hits and it reached 64,000 Facebook timelines.

Multiple Facebook fan pages for Meeks and a GoFundMe account to cover his legal expenses were set up in the wake of his mug shot madness.

Meeks is flattered by the love from women near and far but he said it is making him blush.

"Well I appreciate that but I want you to know that this is really not me, I'm not some king pin," said Meeks.

Meeks faces five weapons charges and one gang charge, police said. Stockton police said Meeks already served nine years in prison for grand theft. He is currently in jail in California and being held of $900,000 bail.  His arraignment is scheduled for Friday afternoon.

Spokane Superior Court shows Meeks record in Spokane includes Providing a False Identity and two fugitive warrants.
