SPOKANE, Wash. -- The National Weather Service has issued a small stream flood advisory on Wednesday for heavy rain in Pend Oreille Co., Bonner Co., Boundary Co. and Shoshone Co.

The advisory includes the cities of Metaline Falls, Sandpoint, Priest River, Bonners Ferry, Wallace, Pinehurst, Osburn, and Kellogg and lasts until 2:45 p.m. on Thursday.

An additional half inch to inch of rain is expected to fall Wednesday night into Thursday according to the Weather Service.  They said the most significant rain rates will likely occur late Wednesday evening into Thursday morning.

The heavy rain may impact small streams and creeks that have been running low the last few weeks will experience significant rises. The Weather Service said the potential will increase for mud and rock slides Wednesday night as soils become increasingly saturated.

Weather Service workers warned that campers should not set up camp along creeks and streams because rapid rises may threaten your campsite very quickly.
