IDAHO & WASHINGTON—The deadline to sign up for health insurance under the Affordable Care Act was Tuesday in Idaho and across much of the country.
There has been a last minute rush to sign up for health insurance to get coverage starting on January 1.
People were given more time to finish their applications in Idaho and Washington but must pay close attention to steps outlined by each exchange.
Monday was the original deadline for guaranteeing you would get coverage on New Year’s Day under the Affordable Care Act.
People already working on their applications were told they would get more time to finish on Monday.
Staff said if you are still working on your application you must pay close attention to any alerts or notifications from the Washington Health Benefit Exchange so you finish your application on time.
Numbers for Washington available at the beginning of December showed more than 210,000 people had enrolled in the state, including Medicaid.
People in Idaho had until the end of Tuesday to finish their application. That will get you coverage starting January 1.
In early December the state of Idaho said more than 9,500 applications were completed and more than 1,700 people selected a health insurance plan in Idaho.
You still have until March 31 to sign up for health insurance and avoid a penalty.
