SPOKANE, Wash.--Firefighters knocked flames early Wednesday morning  at a home near Cannon Playground in west-central Spokane.

Fire officials said the fire started just before midnight in the upper bedroom of a house near the intersection of West Mission Avenue and North Oak Street.

Four people were evacuated and one older resident was taken to the hospital for examination according to authorities.  Firefighters said they were able to control the fire fairly quickly and expected the residents would be able to return to the home sometime on Wednesday.
