COEUR D'ALENE -- A marriage is hinging on this weekend's Ironman competition. A woman says she will not marry her fiancee unless he enters and completes an Ironman competition.
The couple just arrived from Sydney, Australia. Jane Richards and Lachlan Wolfers are supposed to get married in six weeks. But that will not happen unless Lachlan finishes Ironman.
"Most guys just ask a girl to marry them and they say yes or no on the spot. I get conditions attached. It's pretty tough and it's not exactly the easiest race to have to do. One way or another, this is my first time. I don't' care if I have to crawl across the finish line. I'm going to get there,' said Wolfers.
Jane says the unusual nuptial request is only fair. The couple was originally supposed to go to Ironman Japan. But the race was canceled.
If Lachlan does not make it through this Ironman, he will have to compete at another Ironman. And that will be one week before the wedding.
