SPOKANE -- He said he would give federal authorities a war, and make a fireball out of Spokane.
What started as a federal weapons case appears to be turning into something broader.
Earlier this week, FBI agents arrested Wayde Kurt, 53, at his home in North Spokane. Kurt is a convicted felon and authorities found five guns at his house, including two machine guns.
Thursday, U.S. Attorney Earl Hicks called Kurt "nothing more than a perpetual criminal." Hicks outlined Kurt's long criminal background.
In 1988, Kurt was aquitted of murder in Snohomish County. One year later, he was arrested for a run-in with deputies in Medford, Oregon, in which he rammed police cars and stole other cars before being caught. He's also accused of trying to escape from Pierce County Jail in 1996.
Inside Kurt's home, authorities found a Washington driver's license displaying Kurt's picture, but someone else's name. Prosecutors say that's not the only illegal identifcation Kurt is accused of making. They also say he's been making fake ID's since the mid-80's. They say now, Kurt has about 30 aliases.
Prosecutors confirm Kurt is a well-known white supremacist.
Kurt's attorney tried to argue that his client should be on supervised release.
A U.S. Magistrate judge will make a decision Friday.
