SPOKANE-- On Monday night a 21 year old Spokane man drowned while tubing on the Spokane River with friends.

His sister spoke out for the first time Thursday about the loss of her brother, and her warning to others floating the river.

Alicia Scott spoke about her brother saying, “He used to say, he'd say "I love you, be safe and I’ll see you soon." that was his thing.”

Kyeffer Scott died Monday at just 21 years old. He was tubing on the Spokane River with friends, when he fell into the water.

Alicia says it was out of character for her brother not to wear a life jacket. “It’s just ironic because my brother was a very cautious person; he was the only kid on the street with all his bicycle gear on.”

She’s experienced first hand how fragile life can be and wants others to learn through her loss. “Don’t just do it because it's the rules, do it because it's...there are people who love you and they don't want to lose you.”

The family wants to thank the rescue crews who worked to find her brother and are especially grateful for the kayaker who actually tried to save Kyeffer when he fell off his inner tube.
