SPOKANE--Family and friends of a Spokane teenager who died after suffering a head injury during a high school football game in 2009, gathered Friday to celebrate his gift of sight.
Drew Swank’s family donated his corneas and restored sight to two people.
Attendees put finishing touches on a "floragraph" of Drew, one of 72 organ donor portraits that will grace the Donate Life "One More Day" float in the 2012 Rose Parade.
The floragraph is made entirely of organic floral materials.
The decorating event included a brief ceremony with remarks by Drew's oldest sister Tara Swank, a hospital administrator from Sacred Heart and SightLife CEO Monty Montoya.
