SPOKANE, Wash.—Sunday was the day dozens of families hanging out at Manito Park in Spokane had been waiting for.
Children and their parents spent hours sledding up and down the hills at the park.
One father said he and his daughter drive by Manito Park every day wishing there was enough snow to go sledding. They got exactly what they asked for Sunday.
One family said they were inspired by the Olympics.
"We are team Mayer hitting the Manito hill,” said Ella and Doug Mayer.
They said they had one obstacle to avoid.
"We try to avoid the big jump. We hit that last year, once. Once,” said the Mayer’s.
Others on the hill said the bigger the jumps the better.
"Go down and it's fun because you go super fast,” said Hunter Burgess.
“You just have to hang on and hope for the best,” said Don Oliveri.
The kids said they hope Sunday was the first of many more snow days.
"I don't want it to melt away,” said Vince Moore.
