SPOKANE, Wash. -- A public memorial service Saturday morning honored the life of Cpl. Justin Clouse. Clouse's body was then taken to the gravesite at Riverside Memorial Park.
Clouse, 22, of Sprague, was one of five soldiers killed by friendly fire in an airstrike that was meant for enemy forces in Afghanistan earlier this month.
The Patriot Guard escorted Corporal Clouse’s body to a funeral home in Spokane Friday. A relative of Clouse is a rider in the unit.
Clouse played varsity football during his time at Sprague High School. He was also captain of the basketball team and ASB vice president.
Clouse was serving his second deployment when he was killed. Those who knew him remembered Clouse as someone who would never give up. He volunteered to represent his unit during Iron Horse Week and refused to let the battalion down.
Corporal Justin Clouse was remembered with full military honors at Life Center Church on Government Way. The memorial service began at 9 a.m.
