SPOKANE, Wash-- Federal agents said a wanted felon and registered sex offender bought a one-way ticket to Spokane in early February and had not been heard from since.

Spokane Police joined F.B.I agents in Seattle and Salt Lake City in a search for Kevin Anthony Briggs, a convicted felon wanted for charges of aggravated assault, attempted sexual intercourse without consent, assault on a police officer and escape.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation said Briggs escaped police custody after reportedly assaulting a woman, resisting arrest and hitting an officer in the face.

Authorities believe Briggs purchased a one-way bus ticket to Spokane and may be traveling through Washington. He is believed to be armed and dangerous according to officials.

At the time of the assault, Briggs was on probation for previous convictions of sexual intercourse without consent, aggravated kidnapping, escape and burglary.

Investigators described Briggs as 5’5” to 5’7”, weighing between 120 and 150 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes.  Additionally, Briggs could be identified by multiple tattoos, a double “snake bite” piercing on his bottom lip, a bellybutton piercing and pierced ears.

Investigators said it was possible that Briggs altered his appearance.  He was last seen wearing gray sweatpants, a dark-colored hooded jacket and a dark baseball cap.

The F.B.I. asked anyone who encounters a person matching Briggs’ description to avoid contact and call their local F.B.I office.
