SPOKANE COUNTY -- Rescue crews responded to a river rescue along the Little Spokane River near the Painted Rocks trailhead late Wednesday night.
Authorities told KREM 2 News two people in their 20’s left St. George’s around 6:00 p.m. Wednesday. The traveled the Little Spokane River in an inflatable raft with no life jackets.
Sometime between 6:00 p.m. and 10:15 p.m. the raft deflated and the people got stuck in the mud where the river intersects with Rutter Parkway.
One of the people managed to get out, make his way through the mud and flag someone down.
Fire District 9 rescue crews responded shortly after and got the other person out of the water. One of them was treated for mild hypothermia, but no was transported to the hospital.
