SPOKANE, Wash.--A viewer contacted KREM 2 On Your Side on Wednesday morning concerned that construction was causing a dangerous problem in her neighborhood.
Mary Margaret Brajcich said people were speeding through Mount Vernon Drive trying to find a way around construction on Ray Street. There was a detour at 17th but some people were turning on Mount Vernon instead of staying on the detour. The problem was that Mount Vernon was not a through street.

"Monday morning starting around 6:30, 7:00, we started getting unbelievable traffic,” said Brajcich. "They're not getting anywhere by coming this way."
Neighbors said drivers were also threatening their safety.
'It's scary because they're speeding and we have kids,” said Brajcich.

Neighbors worried the speeding was only the beginning.
"It's getting a little crazy, especially if we have another three weeks of it,” said Brajcich.
The City said it was going to add more barricades at the construction site at 17th and Ray.
