SPOKANE, Wash. -- A truck driver was a little too ambitious early Thursday while attempting to drive a semi-truck under a Spokane overpass.
Around 8 a.m., the driver wedged the truck under the overpass near 1st and Stevens. The truck was hauling acetone, paint and petroleum. Due to the hazardous materials, authorities called in a hazmat team.
Some of the material leaked out of the truck so crews were forced to block off Stevens from 1st to 2nd. They expected the road to be closed for several hours while crews mopped up the scene.
The overpass had some cosmetic damage but experts said it is most likely structurally sound. Experts from BNSF Railway Company planned to double check the structure as a precaution.
The driver was cited for failure to obey traffic laws. No injuries were reported.
