SPOKANE, Wash--The man suspected of drunk driving and hitting a pregnant woman and her husband New Year’s Day appeared before a judge Thursday for his first court appearance.
Police said 25-year-old Bryan Hoofman allegedly crashed into the married couple, sending them and their unborn child to the hospital with injuries.
The husband was in serious condition, the wife was in satisfactory condition and the unborn child was expected to be okay Thursday according to hospital officials.
According to the affidavit, witnesses saw the victims driving a silver coupe on Crestline Street toward Francis Avenue when Hoofman ran a red light.
Spokane Police said the 24-year-old admitted to drinking too much and they arrested him for Driving Under the Influence.
Hoofman allegedly became uncooperative and had to be pinned down at the hospital. He kicked an officer and kneed an emergency responder in the face according to the affidavit.

Hoofman faced charges for vehicular and third degree assault.
Attorneys cited his air force experience and lack of criminal history in court.
Hoofman was ordered to be held on $50,000 bond and scheduled to reappear in court January 14th.
