SPOKANE-- Eastern Washington contributions for the candidates running for the Washington’s U.S. senate seat are neck and neck.
Incumbent Maria Cantwell is seeking her third term in the senate. Challenger Michael Baumgartner is a state senator from Spokane.
Cantwell has a strong lead in contributions state wide; almost 10 to 1.
In Seattle alone Cantwell raised almost all of what Baumgartner has collected in the whole state.
If you look at the numbers for eastern Washington the race tightens up.
In Spokane the number of contributions is almost even and the money is within $20,000.
In Spokane Valley there are more donations for Cantwell but more money for Baumgartner.
Cheney has fewer contributions and more of distance between the two but Cantwell earns slightly more.
In Colbert, Baumgartner has more support and money but the numbers are low again.
In Liberty Lake their donations are almost even but the challenger still earns more than $1,000 over the incumbent.
In Pullman the democrat has more support in money and contributions.
Outside of Washington, senator Cantwell has a significant advantage with almost 6,000 donations.
State senator Baumgartner had 33 contributions.
