MOSES LAKE, Wash.-- As the result of a one-month long investigation, two men were arrested for possessing hundreds of pounds of marijuana in Moses Lake.
Authorities arrested Carlos Ali Cera, 18, and Juan Carlos Cortez Barajas, 20, on a variety of drug-related charges.
Detectives with the Grant County’s Interagency Narcotics Enforcement Team watched the two men leave a home Friday on the 14800 block of Third Street Northeast and take off in a car. They quickly pulled the car over and smelled marijuana. A search of the car turned up a large quantity of marijuana packaged for sale.
Authorities turned their direction the home the men were spotted at and search the premises. They found more than 400 lbs. of marijuana including 19 mature plants. The plants were found inside growing operation hidden by sheets of plywood.
There were also two sheds on the property dedicated to drying and processing the marijuana for later sale. Detectives seized over $3,000 cash and vehicle both believed to be illegal proceeds of the operation.
Authorities said the marijuana was being grown under the guise of medicinal use of the drug. The two men were booked into the Grant County Jail.
