SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash.—Authorities found a female body around 5:30 p.m. in the Spokane River.  A group of people on a boat reported seeing a body in the water around 4:00 p.m. Friday.

Authorities entered the water near Empire and Butler. Deputies taped off a home nearby. Authorities said the home has nothing to do with the investigation, it is simply an access point to reach the Spokane River.

The Sheriff's Office Emergency Operation's Team was called to the scene to recover the body that was caught in some branches of a fallen tree.

Major Crimes Detectives are investigating. The body was released to the Spokane County Medical Examiner's Office.
