COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho-- Officers issued an alert Tuesday evening to be on the lookout for a missing Coeur d’Alene man. Michael D. Morehead, 49, was last seen on November 22.

On December 2, detectives were able to trace Morehead’s cell phone and determine a coordinate he was near Fernan Saddle in a heavily wooded area of Kootenai County. However, authorities said on Tuesday that they were not able to determine any coordinates due to him being too far away from a cell tower.

Morehead’s family has reported that he has been suicidal in the past. Morehead’s wife said he has firearms in his possession.

His wife reported him missing on November 22. Authorites determined that Morehead had stayed at a local motel from November 20 to November 22. Deputies said Morehead indicated he was traveling to Meridian, Idaho. Since that time he has not been heard from. His wife initially believed he had gone hunting with a friend.

Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office searched for Morehead in the area identified by detectives but were unable to locate him or his vehicle. The Sheriff’s Office plans to continue to search for him with the deputies assigned to the back-country.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call Coeur d’Alene Police at 208-769-2320.
