POST FALLS, Idaho-- Boaters found the body of a missing Idaho woman in the Spokane River. The Kootenai County Sheriff's office announced the discovery Friday around 5:15 p.m.
Joan Gundlach, 70, vanished earlier in the week. Her body was located by a group of boaters near Pleasant View Road, on the south side of the river according to deputies.
An autopsy is scheduled for next week.
Authorities found Gundlach’s vehicle on Wednesday at Q’emiln Park. Deputies had Avista shut down the south channel dam Thursday morning so they could search the channel. MedStar also made numerous passes up and down the river.
Investigators said Gundlach might have been depressed or even suicidal.
