Belton will be laid to rest with full military honors at Greenwood Memorial Terrace on Thursday, August 29 at 12 p.m. On August 30 at 2:00 p.m., the family will have a more intimate church service at North Hill Disciples of Christ. The public is invited to both events to show their respects.

Belton’s daughter-in-law, Barbara Belton, says it’s been are hard couple of days. Barbara said she still can’t comprehend how many how many people have reached out to pay their respects.

“It’s surprising, but I understand. I understand because he was a vet and this was such a brutal and senseless crime,” said Belton.

Belton, 88, was allegedly beaten by Demetrius Glenn, 16, and Kenan Adams-Kinard, 16, Wednesday night and died in the hospital the next morning. Glenn and Adams-Kinard have been arrested in suspicion of Belton's death.
