SPOKANE-- The defense for former Spokane Police Officer Karl Thompson asked for a far lesser punishment when he's sentenced next month.
Thompson is scheduled to be sentenced on November 15th. A jury convinced him of lying to investigators and using excessive force in the death of Otto Zehm in 2006.
Federal prosecutors revised their sentencing request last week. Rather than six to eight years, they requested sentencing be for nine to 11 years in prison.
Friday the defense countered back asking for only just over two years. The defense even said that is excessive. They asked for no imprisonment.
