OLYMPIA, Wash. — The deadline for drivers to remove studded tires has been pushed back.
The threat of spring snow prompted lawmakers to extend the deadline until Thursday, April 7.
The Department of Transportation may push the deadline back again if snow stays in the forecast.
“While we’ve extended the deadline, we’re asking drivers who live in lower elevations to remove their studded tires before April 7,” said Chris Christopher, WSDOT director of maintenance operations.
Drivers who don’t remove studded tires by the deadline face a fine from the Washington State Patrol.
