SPOKANE, Wash. -- Authorities responded to a house fire on the corner of East 16th and Havana around noon on Thursday. Authorities said when they arrived the flames were shooting out of the attic.
Crews vented the roof and managed to put out the flames before 1:00 p.m. Authorities said there was a single occupant and no injuries. The person will be staying with relatives.
Officials said crews were still chasing the fire through several layers of roofing. They said they were also not sure whether the fire began in the attic or the back of the house.
Investigators arrived on the scene and will probably stay for several hours.
