COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho (AP) — A 25-year-old northern Idaho businessman told police he shot two Moses Lake, Wash., men early Sunday morning because he felt threatened.
Adam Johnson, who remains in Kootenai County Jail in Coeur d'Alene on $500,000 bond, told police, "I didn't feel that there was any other way out of it."
But authorities say Johnson should be charged with attempted murder and aggravated battery, contending he was responsible for the altercation.
Johnson, who owns a telecommunications business and is on the Post Falls Chamber of Commerce board, is due to be arraigned within two weeks in 1st District Court and could face up to 30 years in prison, if convicted.
Brandon R. Burgess, who is 25, is improving at a Seattle hospital after surgery to remove a bullet from his stomach. Bradley J. Phillips, also 25, was shot in the knee.
