COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho-- Authorities arrested a man Sunday night for allegedly smashing into five vehicles along Interstate 90. Officers eventually arrested Glenn M. McNutt, 50, for Felony DUI and Aggravated Battery.
Coeur d’Alene police said that McNutt faces additional charges for allegedly leaving the scene of an accident and not having insurance.
Police were called around 5:30 p.m. Saturday and told about a reckless driver traveling eastbound on I-90 from Highway 41.
Witnesses said McNutt’s 2006 Kia had hit another vehicle and kept going. Idaho State Police said that McNutt also drove other vehicles off of the road. The suspect appeared to be intentionally striking other vehicles according to police.
Another driver called 911 and recorded video of the Kia. Police said the citizen stayed on the phone with 911 operators and gave them details.
Officers caught up to the Kia near Northwest Boulevard. Police on the scene said that McNutt had just hit a black Honda Civic. Officers added that the collision caused the Civic to leave the roadway, spin around, and strike the guardrail.
Police estimated that McNutt was driving about 50 miles per hour before coming to a stop at the bottom of the off ramp onto 15th Street. McNutt failed to comply with officers orders according to police. Officers had to physically remove McNutt from the driver’s side of the vehicle.
A search warrant was obtained by officers for a blood draw. The results of the blood draw are not yet available. Police said no serious injuries occurred from the multiple wrecks.
