COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho--A Coeur d’Alene man was sentenced Tuesday to 12 years in state prison for attempted strangulation. Robert Williston, 47, was ordered to serve the first eight years as a fixed term and the remaining four years would be indeterminate.
Court documents showed Williston admitted to the attempted strangulation involving his wife on the August 30, 2013 incident. Documents showed Williston repeatedly slapped and kicked his wife and then choked her.
Documents showed Williston had an extensive criminal history including four prior felony convictions and nine misdemeanor convictions. Williston had one prior violation of probation for a DUI conviction, according to documents. Documents showed Williston had been drinking the night of August 30.
