COEUR D'ALENE-- A Coeur d’Alene couple’s lottery win will not be used towards vacations or fancy cars.

The Paul family received a big check after winning $145,000 in the Wild Card Jackpot Lottery last week.

Ralph and his wife Jody say their mortgage is underwater and Jody’s eight surgeries over the years have left a pile of medical bills leaning over them.

Now rather than swimming in debt the family can use this big cardboard check as a life raft.

Ralph plans on using part of the money to start a college fund for his daughter.

The store where the ticket was sold received $20,000.
