COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho -- Thousands of people gathered in Coeur d'Alene Friday evening to officially kick off the holiday season.
The Coeur d'Alene resort held its annual opening ceremonies for the holiday light show, which included a parade, fireworks, and even caroling.
"Oh, it’s breathtaking. Everybody’s down here," said John Eloe with the Coeur d'Alene Resort.
Eloe said the annual event is not your standard holiday light show.
“There's 255 calls that go out,” said Eloe. “How many shells that means? Probably in the neighborhood of 8 to 9-hundred shells are going to be shot off."
"It was amazing…it is better than the 4th of July,” said one woman attending the event.
No more firework shows were planned at the resort this year but cruises to Santa’s North Pole Toy Workshop still run every night during the holiday season.
