SPOKANE, Wash. -- The Spokane Mayor and Police Chief gave a one-year progress report to the use of force commission Thursday.
City leaders said they are making progress on the 26 recommendations the commission made in 2013. The police department says it is working with the Department of Justice to have an audit on the culture inside the department.
Other highlights from the report include that 90% of officers are certified in crisis training.
The chief also mentioned some of the new 25 police officers coming to the department are from different parts of the country. He hopes they will bring new ideas to the department.
