SPOKANE, Wash.-- With the holidays now behind us, many people are now taking down their decorations and throwing out their trees.
Earth Works Recycling in Spokane wants to recycle all the old trees. Workers said trees have been trickling in slowly so far, but expect more now that the New Year is underway.
For $5, the company hauls trees to a wood shredder. The wood is them made into things like mulch, hog fuel, and ground cover.
Spokane city and county residents can also take their trees to the Energy Waste Facility on Geiger Boulevard, the Spokane Valley Transfer Station on Sultan Road, or the North Side Transfer Station on Elk Chattaroy Road.
The City of Spokane offers free curbside pickup for those in city limits. Just put the tree by the curb on a regularly scheduled garbage pick-up day. Experts said make sure it is at least three feet away from your recycle and garbage bins. The service runs through January 20.
