WAHLUKE, Wash. -- A student was injured early Thursday after a crash involving a car and a school bus in Wahluke.

Around 7:25 a.m., school bus driver Mauricio Ramirez, 50, pulled onto Rd 24 SW heading westbound, according to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office.  The driver was headed back to Mattawa with 13 kids on board.

Luis Ponce Osuna, 39, was driving eastbound on Rd 24 SW in a long line of traffic.  Osuna pulled out to pass the turning vehicles as he was attempting to continue eastbound.  As the bus turned into traffic, the bus and Osuna’s car collided head-on.  Ponce was unable to stop on the extremely icy roadway.

One child was treated by firefighters for minor dizziness at the scene.  No other injuries were reported.  Osuna was cited for passing in a no passing zone, no insurance, and no valid driver’s license.
