SPOKANE -- Spokane Police are looking for a suspect who assaulted a child at the STA Plaza Wednesday morning.

Offiers say surveillance video shows a woman grabbing her child by the coat and kicking him to the ground. Witnesses reported a similar incident.

The incident happened around 7:30 a.m. The woman is described as black, or Native American, wearing a brown coat with a fur collar, jeans, white shirt, long chain with black pendant, and a black beanie hat.

The child was about 2-years-old, wearing a blue winter jumpsuit, and blue beanie, seen in a stroller.

Witnesses believe the woman rides a bus from Spokane Valley, possibly near Indiana and Pines, and transfers at the STA Plaza to a northside route.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 509-327-5111, or 1-800-222-TIPS or submit a tip to www.crimestoppersinlandnorthwest.org

Why not just wait til 2mor, when she gets off the bus we can all take turns kicking her!

That figures.

Someone knows who this is - and they need to do the right and moral thing by turning her in. If she can do that in public what is she doing to this child at home. Please lets not have another child abuse case - turn her in!

WHat kind of demented, sick and pathetic parent KICKS their child? Hope they catch this piece of garbage. NAIL HER! If you don't have the patience for a child, don't have them. Pretty simple.

I like the waiting until she gets off the bus tomorrow and kicking her. What I horrible mother this must be. I don't even want to imagine what she does to her poor baby behind closed doors.

I watched the video and it isn't very clear if the Mom "kicked" the boy to the ground. Her stroller was in the way of the kicking, I think. It is pretty clear that she was yanking him around really hard though. I wonder what any witnesses have to say.

If she is willing to do this to this child in public, I would hate to see what she does behind closed doors. Furthermore why was everyone just standing there with their thumbs up their butts? Why didn't anyone do something right away to help this poor child? Afraid she was going to kick their butts too?!

3 bystanders, why didn't someone call and report this right away. Poor kid.

There were several of us that witnessed this incident and did file police reports. It was very horrifying to see this up close and personal. What the video didn't show was that she picked the toddler up by his hood choking him. She told us bystanders that we didn't have a right to an opinion because we didn't carry him for 9 months. We did say something to her. She has twins that are younger that were in the stroller - a boy and a girl. That isn't reported in this article. The toddler didn't even cry when she pushed him to the ground which the police said he is probably used to it. We are still rattled by the whole thing. Unfortunately, STA wasn't able to get her name but did report it. We all plan to testify against her if the case makes it to court. It makes you wonder what isn't seen behind closed doors if she can do that in public and feel she's justified since she "carried him for 9 months", and his little toddler legs couldn't go fast enough for her to make her transfer.

Just remember, it isn't just one child but 3 that she has that have to endure this on a daily basis. Hopefully one of her friends will turn her in.

I hope they find her, I cant even imagine what must be done to him and the others when she's alone. I agree with another post, someone knows who she is- TURN HER IN!!! I'd hate to see that poor little boy in the news because she's killed him. How sad that he didnt even cry! :-(

If she doesn't know how to take care of her kids..then she shouldn't have put herself in the situation she did to have kids..gosh..simple as that.

Mt grandson is almost two and can be a handfull, but is way to precious to do something this awful. I'm a young grandpa and still got enough to beat the ugly out of this woman if I see her do this around me. The young need guided and protected. Who will watch over this child when even his mother is not his protector. I pray for a better life for this little one.

So appalling that none of the bystanders did anything to get in the way of this woman and this poor child. No one approached her in her space. So what if she mouthed off a little, some one should have walked up to her, called 911 and stayed with her, followed her, until police arrived. I have never been to the STA plaza, but are there not security guards inside? This shows what our society has become. There is an obvious crime going on where a helpless toddler is the victim and because the “mother” says it’s not your business you just lean against the wall and watch. So sad.

If this woman can't cope with her situation, she could go to numerous women's shelters or even the police, and she would be given some type of help. If she has family, I hope they turn her into cps. I hate to think how she mishandles these poor little tykes. People, don't stand by. Probably, she wouldn't get caught.

Silent witnesses, that is awful! Come on people don't look the other way, do the right thing if you are ever in a situation like this.

ponderaygal said on November 21, 2009 at 11:55 AM

Witness 1, Thanks for your account of what happened. It must have been difficult to witness. Those poor children who had to live with that daily.
