SPOKANE, Wash. -- Charges are being upgraded for a man accused of killing his girlfriend’s mother and putting her body in the trunk of a car.
Juan Sifuentez is charged with First Degree Murder in the case. He was previously charged with Second Degree Murder.
Authorities said Latayna Chapin was beaten and stabbed to death. Officials said her body was found in an abandoned near the Fred Meyer in South Spokane. They believe the car sat there for two months.
Chapin’s daughter admitted to helping her boyfriend load her mother’s body into her car.
Sources close to Chapin said she was trying to leave the area. They said Chapin had helped support the couple but wanted to be done. Court records showed the couple accessed Chapin’s bank account after detectives believe she was dead.
Chapin’s daughter, Rachael Colby, was also charged with the murder.
