SPOKANE, Wash.—Crews responded to a car lot Wednesday morning where four to five cars were on fire.

Officials said it happened at the A&M Used Autos lot near E. Sprague and N. Smith around 5:00 a.m. They said the fire spread to the building on the lot.

The Assistant Fire Chief said the fire could have been started on purpose. One witness said she saw a beer bottle go flying before the fire started.

Sprague was shut down between Lacey and Smith while crews worked to put out the fire. People living in nearby mobile homes had to be evacuated. Officials said power had to be shut off because the fire was threatening a power pole.

Spokane Police said they are looking into a possible connection between the fire and a nearby stabbing.

The fire is still under investigation.
