SPOKANE, Wash. -- Authorities said a pickup truck plunged down a 450-foot embankment at Riverside State Park Thursday morning.
The male driver walked away with no injuries, however. According to authorities, the man was driving too fast for the conditions and lost control near Seven Mile Rd. and Inland Rd. The truck was traveling on a back road through a wooded area.
Investigators said the truck hit two trees head-on as it plunged down the embankment and finally came to a stop.
Emergency crews responded to the call as a technical rescue but the call was downgraded after the driver got out of the truck under his own power and walked up the embankment to a main road. The man was waiting there when emergency crews arrived, the Sheriff's Office said.
Authorities said the driver would not be cited.
