PULLMAN, Wash. - Washington State University Police arrested the driver of a car Monday morning for vehicular assault, after hitting two people on campus.

Officers say witnesses reported the tan sedan driving erratically on SR 270 between Moscow and Pullman, before turning onto Stadium Way around 7:30 a.m.

Washington State University police say the driver was 31-year-old David Nobel from Moscow, Idaho.

One student was hit by the car near Gannon Hall. Officers say the driver continued north on Stadium Way, hitting the second student near Wegner Hall.

A witness to the incident described it as scary. Jamerika Haynes says she got a good look at one of the students hit by a car.

She says she could see his face and it was ghost white. She says the leg that was injured was turning brown.

Continuing north on Stadium Way, the driver of the car stopped near Grimes Way and fled the vehicle. Police arrested the driver a short time later near McCoy Hall.

The identities of both injured students and the driver of the vehicle have not been released. The driver was arrested for suspicion of vehicular assault.

Both students were taken to Pullman Regional Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Police are still looking into why the suspect drove the way he did. They say they don’t know at the moment

Stadium Way is expected to be partially closed until the investigation is complete.
